i) " Windows Based Punjabi Editor with Spell Checker" .The Project is a Punjabi word processor with Spell Checker under MS-Windows. It has similar capabalities & desktop as MS-Word. The main dictionary approximately contains 40,000 punjabi words.User can also add new words in to his own dictionary. The tool used for developing this software package is Visual C ++ 6.0.The Project is developed by team under Mr Ravinder Singh Zandu, Senior Design Engineer, CEDTI-Mohali.

ii) Multimedia Project: This project with a total outlay of Rs. 108.20 Lakhs, is sponsored by Ministry of Information Technology. The implementation of the project is in progress. The Multimedia Centre also provides consultancy and facilities to potential entrepreneurs with a view to reduce their level of up-front investment.

Various sponsored projects were developed by multimedia lab set up under this project as under :

  • Website for National Research Laboratory for conservation of Cultural Property, Lucknow (http://www.nrlccp.org )
  • Ten minutes Linear CD presentation for Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai.
  • CBT on Vermi culture for Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh developed in English and Punjabi.
  • CBT on Mushroom cultivation for Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh developed in English and Punjabi.
  • Quiz kit for Reserve Bank of India Bombay.

iii) Low Cost Audio Video Literacy project: Development of Low Cost Audio Video System for Adult Literacy Programme for teaching Indian Languages, sponsored by MIT has been completed. This project aims at teaching people in rural areas, both adult and primary schools, how to write characters, identify objects with pictures and sound. It is a rugged system developed specially for use in areas, which lack regular power supply and this system can be connected to any TV. The system provides a facility to enhance learning using user-friendly keys. The project cost is Rs.18.34 lakhs

iv) ‘Sanjeevani’ (Telemedicine Project): Development of Telemedicine Technology is a Rs. 264 lakh project sponsored by the Ministry of Information technology. The project is being done in collaboration with C-DAC, Pune and PGI Chandigarh. The objective of the project is to develop a technology for sharing of multimedia medical information between specialists at medical institutions and patients at remote hospitals. In the first phase, it is planned to establish technology for networking three referral medical institutions viz AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, SGPGI Lucknow using ISDN link which is in turn will further be connected to one Medical College or Hospital each for implementation of Tele-consultancy, Tele-diagnosis and Tele-education.

v) Electronic Control Panel for Generators: The project Electronic Control Panel for Generators upto 40 KVA is undergoing field trials for Mira & Company, Ludhiana. The cost of the project is Rs. 2.00 lakhs. The product is being developed to control various parameters both at the Engine side and the Power side.
