| Centre for Electronic Design
and Technology of India(CEDTI) is a premier
Human Resource Development Organisation of
Ministry of Communications & Information Technology,Govt.
of India. It imparts specialised training
in the field of Electronic Product Design,
Manufacturing, Maintenance Engineering and
Information Technology. The Centre has been
set up to develop skilled manpower, provide
consultancy services and assist the region
in the development of the Electronics and
Information Technology industry. CEDTI, Mohali
is a quality conscious organisation and has
been granted the prestigious ISO 9002 certification
in 1997. CEDTI regularly conducts short term
as well as long term training programmes .
The long term programmes comprise Masters
of Engineering Programme, Advanced Diploma
Programmes on System Maintenance, Information
Technology and Hardware Design. The short
term programme include courses on Electronic
Product Design, Information Technology, Repair
and Maintenance of Personal Computers, Biomedical,
Instrumentation,Telecommunication equipment
and Entrepreneurship Development. The Centre
has pioneered the development of Telemedicine
Technologies and Systems in India. |

| CEDTI, Mohalli is 250 kms
away from Delhi, the capital of India and
is situated near Le-Corbuiser's city beautiful
Chandigarh. It is located in the foothills
of Shivalik range of mountains. The city has
a lot of tourist spots, which are internationally
renowned. The world famous Rock Garden is
a collection of artwork made out of waste
articles. Another place of interest is the
Sukhna Lake, where one can get memorable boating
pleasure. |

| Summers in
Mohali are quite hot, with temperature touching
45 degrees Celsius during April to June. Winters
are equally cold with temperature touching
6 degrees Celsius or even less, during December
to February. Rainy season is between June
and September and average rainfall is 130
cms. The maximum temperature during the months
of September, October and November is 30 degrees. |

The living allowance paid to the participants
is to meet their daily boarding and sundry
expenses. Lodging in shared air-conditioned
rooms are provided seperately for the participants.
Currently Indian Rs. 5000/- per month are
provided as living allowance.
In their own interest the students are,
therefore, required to bring adequate amount
for their additional expenses like sight
seeing, shopping, long distance telephone
calls etc.

The respective Embassies/High Commissions
will sponsor the candidates to the Indian
Embassy/High Commissions in each country
under the ITEC/SCAAP programs.
The admission will be based on first come
first serve basis. The government of India
will inform the candidates about their acceptance
for training around 10th August 2002 and
by 15th december'2002 for january programmes
through respective embassies/high commisions.
It is therefore suggested that the nominations
with full details be sent at the earliest
to the government of India through the respective
embassies/high commisions.
